One of our members had the experience of a lifetime when she entered a WI competition. Helen was invited to record a track at Abbey Road Studios along with a number of the other entrants. A new modern version of Jerusalem was successully recorded by the group and the CD will be available later in the year. Jerusalem has now been bought into the 21st century and the WI is very excited about it's release.
Carnmenellis Womens Institute was formed in 1960
with just a few members in attendance.
We are still one of the smaller WI's in the country with 15
members currently.
We meet on the second Tuesday of the month in the WI
Hall in the centre of the village. We have a
wide range of ages from 20's to 70's and a varying selection of
talents amongst us.
Each meeting we have an interesting speaker
which often gets us involved in a variety of crafts, occasionally
we go to a different venue which adds interest for us all.
